Mechanical ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Word from the Head of Department

Mechanical engineering is an engineering discipline that applies physics principles to the analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is a cutting-edge scientific field. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Boumerdes offers several internationally recognized specializations, including mechanical construction, energy engineering, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, materials engineering, industrial engineering, renewable energy, mechanical manufacturing and production, automotive engineering, and plant management. These specializations serve the industrial, manufacturing, and administrative sectors. Furthermore, mechanical engineers play a key role in energy production, water desalination, and the operation and management of petroleum companies. The department boasts a renowned faculty of professors with advanced degrees who are dedicated to training highly qualified engineers with advanced scientific and practical skills. They are also committed to developing students’ skills and experience while fostering innovation, scientific research, and initiative for the benefit of the academic community and local industry. The department has trained many highly skilled engineers who now excel in various industrial and technological fields, both in Boumerdes and abroad.

The objective of the Process Engineering department is to train Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate graduates capable of designing, operating, improving, managing or marketing eco-industries (water, air, waste treatment ) or processes for various industrial sectors (specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, agri-food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, specialized materials) taking into account environmental and energy criteria (eco-processes).
In general, process engineering determines the feasibility conditions of a process and proposes the appropriate technical solutions making it possible to extrapolate it to an industrial scale. In fact, it is initially a question of designing and sizing the various equipment and production units and then of driving and managing these equipment and units taking into account the imperatives of production (quantity, specificities of the products, costs) while respecting quality, safety and environmental requirements.
Pedagogy being one of the raison d’être of the department, our priority is to ensure the smooth running of the training of our students by providing them with excellent teaching.
As our country attaches great importance to higher education, we must provide our students, without restriction, with the conditions necessary for their training.
To do this, our faculty must mobilize all human and material resources to achieve optimal results.
Our strategy, part of a global vision for the development of the university, will be based on collective participation: teachers and students, to achieve the objectives set.

PRESENTATION OF THE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

The Mechanical Engineering department ex INGM “National Institute of Mechanical Engineering” is a former Algerian institute created in 1973 under the supervision of the Ministry of Heavy Industry.
In 1998, with the creation of the University of Boumerdes, the INGM became three departments of the Faculty of Technology: Industrial Maintenance Department, Mechanical Department and Energy Department. Then, and with the restructuring of the FSI in 2017 Order 567 of June 11, 2017, the Mechanical Engineering Department merged several departments of the FT.

              Currently, a staff of eighty-five (..) permanent teachers/researchers including .. professors.. lecturer A.. lecturer B, .. lecturer-assistants A and .. lecturer-assistants B, provide training and supervision. of 1800 students.
With the advent of the LMD system, the department offers academic training (Bachelor’s and Master’s) distributed in the tables below:
